OK ... You want to have a little fun with Pink Floyd ?
(And you don't even have to be STONED for this ... although being stoned certainly does "enhance" the situation!)
What you need :
a) a CD copy of Dark Side of the Moon.
b) "THE WIZARD OF OZ" video.(either the 50th anniversary edition or the original will both work ... VHS or DVD is fine)
What you do:
1) Put the CD into your player, cuing it up at 0:00
2) start the video with the volume turned OFF
3) Timing is CRUCIAL, so pay very close attention to this part in order for this to work ... watch for the Metro Goldwyn Mayer lion, IMMEDIATELY after the lion has roared for the 3rd time, before the actual movie, start the CD ...
Although Pink Floyd BLATENTLY denies recording Dark Side as an alternate soundtrack to The Wizard of Oz, the events in the movie are pretty much PERFECTLY choreographed with both the lyrics and the melody of the disc ...
Some examples of what to look for are:
1)The tornado scene is VERY interesting ... Great Gig in the Sky is playing for the duration of this scene, and you will be AMAZED how the musical piece coincides with the scene... how the music "lifts" and "falls" mimicing what is happening on screen.
2)Another example that will amaze you is during the scene where Dorothy first meets both the good witch and the wicked witch, after landing in Oz ... The song for this scene is "Us and Them". There is a line that says " ... black ... and blue" When it says black, the camera is on the wicked witch (who is wearing black), and when it says blue, the camera is on the good witch, (who is wearing baby blue). Also during this song when the two witches first appear, the lyrics go "which witch is which??"
My friends and I have found over 70 such similarities throughout the movie, most of which I have forgotten, so I think I will have to go to Blockbuster now and rent the movie again !!!
