I read an article a while ago about how their bones are akin to rubber in some ways and that they have amazing regenrative properties so they can survive stuff like this.

I HATE not naming my source but I really do not remember where I read it at.

cats are much more likely to survive if they fall ABOVE 4 floors than if they fall under 4 floors.

In japan they did some study where they threw cats off an apartment building roof to see if it would live , and they did just fine.

When I was young, one of our cats fell from the 7th floor and came back home all the way up the stairs just fine.

Cats need a few seconds of free falling to adjust their body position - they do it with the tail. They straighten it horizontally and start to make round movements in the direction opposite of the one their body is in; e.g. - if the cat is falling down on it's left side, the tail makes circles to the right - that way they can always fall on their paws. Also, half a second before the impact, the retract their legs and then push hard when they hit the ground. That way they can save their vital organs from the energy of the impact.

Cats are well-equipped for survival in almost any situation.

I lived on a 6th floor of an apartment and the window and sceen was open and my cat musta jumped onto the ledge and went out the window, later that day, we are like where the hell is the cat, of coarse the window was only open for a few mins.. sorry there was no screen on that window.. but anyways, ran outside and sure enough my cat is crying for me, I felt like shit that day, poor kitty got lots of loving that night.

That kitty looks like he is having a great time, like he is getting ready to give someone a big surprise. hehe I love cats.

I have a homeless kitty outside I have been feeding for a while, some asshole left him and moved out of their home so I have been taking care of them. While feeding him I found another kitty that is really homeless, like never been in a house type of homeless kitty. Both kitties seem to hang out and keep each other company, it's kinda cute, but I am moving so I won't be able to keep taking care of them. I won?t be able to spend the time I wanted to, to get them more affectionate and ready for a home. I have a bunch of people interested so hopefully I will find a home before I move. *fingers crossed*

But if nothing works out I didn't do my birthday thread I did last year, were I asked if everyone would donate like $5, $10 or $15 to paypal for my birthday so I can donate to a struggling foster care home that will take both babies in plus it will help the other animals living there too. So I may do my birthday thread, a month and a half late I know, but it's for a good cause. I will start it off at $100 and go from there. I was thinking if I raise enough I would donate cash and then go to PetSmart and Petco to show the proof of the donating and see if I can get them to donate items or at least give me half off the price of things that the foster home needs to help take care of the animals at the shelter.

I love animals and I always do everything I can to help them. So what do you guys think? Anyone want to help out? Do you think I should start a thread about it?

I am also working on starting a whole site for needy animals. Mike from Webair already gave me a big server for the site, thank you baby for that, and JimTheFiend said he would do any updates needed for the site. I was going to include a blog so all of us can post and talk about our pets and others can talk about stories of saving animals themselves. I have two places narrowed down to my main places for donating and then if there are any catastrophes I can change the donation to that for a while.

I am also going to be working on the site for breast cancer. I am just a busy bee. But I always think every time I look at this board that we have the Internet world at our finger tips. We can reach out to almost the whole word. So I want to take advantage of our abilities and help.

Well what do ya'll think? Anyone have any suggestions hit me up on ICQ or e-mail me. All the help I can get on starting the site is much appreciated and any donations for the shelter would really help. Let me know I am very very interested.
