I guess they are worried about either being politically correct or there is not enough money to be made with a topic we can see live everyday on the internet.
The only current war movie I can remember seeing recently was Jarhead with Jake Gyllenhaal. The damn screen was so bright with all the desert scenes that I had to wear sunglasses to watch it!
As far as the story line I couldn't tell you a thing about the movie except the part when Jake's character was on the "Burn the Shit with Diesel" detail cleaning the outdoor toilets.
