Well, try not matting the poor thing, running it with jets wide open!
There is a point, or position, on the throttle, that one can clearly feel the car is NOT pulling any more. So, once the resistance is gone, back off.

Also, you should be pulsing more. Diesels have a ton of torque and do not need to be matted, at all!
