exactly. one would think that given the substance has been used medicinally, spiritually and recreationally for thousands of years evidence of damaging effects would surface. i'd venture to say the only addictive potential - psychological addiction - isn't that credible. as noted in this thread, it's the feeling of the high one gets addicted to. those who get addicted to the high most likely have an addictive personality, and would get addicted to a plethora of things. meaning it's the user, not the cannabis. having smoked for 5+ years frequently, i can't say i've ever felt any psychological addiction even when taking long breaks. i'm sure many others would say the same.
it's habit forming if anything, which is far far from addiction.
