Saw them play at the Mean Fiddler in London a few months back, man they put on such a fucking awesome show, and it's amazing they can still play properly while wearing such restricting costumes.
Never missed them in AZ. Nobody cool tours Eugene, OR except Ani Difranco. Yes I like Ani Difranco too. Shut up.

Seriously the greatest live show you could ever go and see. What's better than getter completely fucking drenched in fake blood cum and urine while thrashing up front? NOTHING.
These guys have putting out consistently bad ass shit for ages. I even liked them pre-metal when they were still known as Death Piggy, and if you haven't heard their side project the X-cops, you're missing out on some GOOD GOOD shit. See if you can dig up X-cops Beat You Down,Cavity Search, or even their cover of Highway Star. They kicked as much ass as the X-Cops as they do Gwar. They retired the sideshow, but they used to come out as their own opening band, haha.
Coming out of the DC scene, I always thought GWAR was a huge big deal and went to a zillion shows. Was surprised that people in California were less likely to have heard of them.
Is that the show at Red's? I think I was at that very show!
yes, it was still Red's at the time. I was right under the stage and got sprayed with blood so many times, I looked like mad butcher on a rampage through kindergarten. Had to stop at the gas station on my way home cause my tank was empty and was worried they would call cops on me. I seriously looked like I murdered 20 people with a chainsaw and loved it

Probably wasn't more than 50 feet from you at the time. I went to two of the Red's shows. I was amazed at how many times Gwar actually came through Edmonton in a year or so there.
So Red's isn't Red's anymore? What do they got going on in there now, same shit different name? Right after I graduated I moved with some buddies like a block away from the mall, I was working at the HMV there, and we practically lived at Red's. Tuesday nights were always good for picking up drunk college girls. Awesome place for you and a buddy to go shoot pool and single out a couple girlfriends and work your magic. I fucking loved that place...

I think they call it Edmonton Event Centre now. I haven't been there since, but back in the day I used to shoot all shows brought to town by Union Events. I've heard a lot about GWAR shows and how much blood they use up, but never took their word for it. Not even seeing entire Red's wrapped up in plastic was good enough warning for stupid, naive me.
As with any band, GWAR gave photographers first 3 songs under the stage for pictures. I thought - surely they're gonna take it easy so we can do our photography in peace... was I ever wrong. First character on the stage got its head chopped off as they started and I caught full dose of squirting blood. Went aside, wiped my camera and told myself to watch out for weird characters on stage and band members wielding swords. Next thing you know, the pipes they had installed all over the stage were turned on just as I was in front of them. I caught all that shit all over me and my cam equipment again. At that moment there was no reason for me to try to keep off blood. I was entirely drenched bottom to top.
The thing i always liked about GWAR too is they're approachable after their shows. I've seen them 6 times now and after each show they took the time to hang with the fans, sign shit and just shoot the shit...
one of the best times was when they played Fremont Street Reggae and Blues Club here in Vegas (loooooooooong time ago). They even hung out and drank beers with everyone afterwards and even bought a round for everyone. Danielle, who was doing most of their artwork and played Symentra onstage was doing caricatures for fans and signing them.
