Dyna's are nice - I must admit. I agree with you on Sportsters - Entry level, etc I wouldn't own one.

I prefer Fat Boys myself, more room - a bit bigger, etc.

Go motorcycle shopping, hit every bike dealer in your area. Ask lots of questions, sit on the bikes. When someone says you should get this bike or that bike, ask why. If someone says this bike is better than the other, take it for what it is, just an opinion.

And then buy the bike you like most that you feel would fit your riding style the best. You wont be happy doing it any other way.

Let me introduce you to my Honda Interceptor:

Its just one of the 5 bikes that I have. Its fast and nimble enough to keep up with the other sportbikes in the curves, and stabe and comfortable enough to ride all day long. I rode it for 7 hours last week and still felt great at the end of the ride. And since its a sport-touring bike, its built to ride for long distance. You can get matching hard luggage for it so you can carry enough clothes or whatever for a weekend.

Has a fuel injected v4 engine, so it has alot of the torque that you get with the v-twin cruisers but it isnt "screaming" at 7000rpm while you're cruising down the interstate like with the inline 4 cylinder sportbikes. And it comes with anti-lock brakes

Love springers, my last 5 harleys were deckers,I love the comfort of a cruiser. The new suzuki I got looks somewhat like the fatboy, without having the price.

I used to be a rabid harley fan, but right now I cant see 26k sitting in my bike shed for an occasional ride. The "Boulevard" I got has all the features I really need or want and I got a decent deal, apx 10k out the door

You really cant, its a new 05, list was 14900 cdn about 12750 us ......Its 1500 cc running boards, heel to toe shifter, NICE Ride....and the price was right

What you need to do before making any decision on the type of bike you want is to decide what you want it for first.

If you want to cruise across the country then try the Harley

If you want to go really fast buy a rice rocket.

If you want to go insanely fast buy a Triumph Rocket III like Synapse has.

If you want to learn about motorbike mechanics buy an older Harley like mine.

Decide what your gunna be doing with it before buying one.

Note: from my experience, you can be the best, most sober motorcycle driver right next to your house in the world, but CAR DRIVERS don't see you. I honestly would never ride one anywhere near the city of ATL (and that includes all the burbs).

We had one when I was married and it was great for taking around the lake and mountains, but I haven't been on one since I had my accident that was 3 surgeries, hundreds of stitches and several broken bones. And we were less than a mile from home, the driver was sober, was in his 30's and had been riding bikes since he was a teen. But a lady who "didn't see" us pulled out in front of us.

Just be careful!!!!!

well a springer softail has a 'springer' front end, the others are only body dressings . . like the heritage will have running boards instead of pegs I believe . . different seat, not as low profile etc . . the dynas are a different frame then the older fxr's

I'm only 5'7" though and do a fair bit of highway riding so the riding position puts a bit of stress on my wrists.

Thinking of trading for a Buell, something a little more upright.

You'd think with a Harley they could hear you coming. Even if I was to ride it outside of town, I'd still have to drive out of town because I live in the middle of Buckhead.
