I donate yearly to one of my former private schools. They don't receive any tax $$$ so it's nice that they get donations so they can offer scholarships. Tuition alone is $16K a year which doesn't include books, food, field trips, etc. They only provide scholarships on need so I feel good giving them a little something - better than I feel when I write my homeowner's tax check for the public schools here
