    How many millionaires in the world?

    Stupid question, I don´t know if there is an answer, but suddently I needed to know how many millionaires there are in the world now.

    Any idea?

    Could you try to guess?

    I would say 100 millon of millionaires, but I can´t hold that number on any fact.

                  According to the Capgemini 2006 World Wealth report, there were 8.7 million millionaires (those whose assets met or exceeded US$1,000,000) in 2006.

                          ouh, my number was too much...

                          I thought about China and India, I supposted that those countries are producing... ...maybe 300.000 new millonaries a year? Is too much that number?

                          And it´s true, with the dollar going down and the euro going up, it must be a lot of new millonaries in Europe..

                                                  I think that modest middle class lifestyle is not that bad .

                                                  Knowing that you can retire without having financial problems just provides a safe working environment for you until. A really nice thing that many people do not appreciate enough.

                                                      Define millionaire. I define millionaire as having a million dollar per year income...not as someone that has a million dollars worth of assets. Many people have a million dollars worth of assets...fewer have annual incomes of a million dollars. Many of my classmates have a million dollars in assets and many of them have several million dollars in assets but none of them have an annual income of a million dollars.

                                                              If net worth is the definition of a millionaire then more than half of the people that I know and more than half of the people I went to school with are millionaires...but they do not think of themselves as such...and I do not think of myself as such. We all live relatively modest lives and me in particular. I am pretty tight with a nickel and roll all of my dividends...do not touch a penny of it.

                                                                  USD is the traditional standard in generation of such statistics, and Capgemini (French IT firm) has been key in generating the World Wealth report for the last several years... I think the next step up is $30mil in assets... it's all about wealth, not income.

                                                                  Of course, if you use Zimbabwe dollars - anyone with over US$35 in their bank account is a millionaire.

                                                                          That was at 10am - I just read an article that says they are selling eggs on the side of the road for 1 Million.....

                                                                          With house prices in London going up the way they have the last few years I bet the 8.7 mil figure is a LOT higher.

                                                                          The thought of my mother being a millionaire is almost funny - but she is just about. (US$).

                                                                          She was lucky with one particular property purchase - but it happens more and more here.
