Hosting Retention Tip - Simply don't honor cancellation requests!

    Drama??!

#1 - Ordered 5 crappy centrino dedicated servers.

#2 - The way it worked out, I never ended up using them at all.

#3 - I sent an email about a week before my next billing date to cancel. There was no contract, unless it was hidden in the fine print on their site or something.

#3b - I am charged for another month of service.

#4 - I Get generic reply "In order to cancel, please provide the following information per server: Server Name, IP, Root Pass, Last 4 of CC, Date to take server offline." It also said that all cancellations must be made more than 30 days prior to the next billing cycle... which I most definitely never agreed to.

#5 - I replied and asked for a copy of the contract or anything that I may have accidentally agreed to stating i would cancel at least 30 days prior to cycle. I also promptly provided as much of the info as possible, however I don't have the "server names" as I just made them up on the fly when purchasing these and never even received a "welcome" email from this company. All other info was promptly provided via fax and email.

    #6 - A week later I got another reply saying ....

For cancellations, please provide the following:

    Server Names
    IP addresses
    Root Password

I have provided all of this info several times, and they are still giving me this shit! I have now disputed the last charge and promised to see them in small claims court if they continue to charge my card further, but based on their emails I'd say they are implying that they intend to charge me again next month, since it is now less than 30 days before the NEXT billing cycle.

Also please note: It has taken at least 6 days for them to reply to each of my emails.

    What to do!?!?!?!?!

The servers were ordered from DedicatedNow, but the jokers I've been dealing with are the billing department at their parent company, PWebtech.com / Pegasus.

PS: I even offered to pay a $200 cancellation fee on the assumption that somewhere on their site is some fine print that I accidentallly agreed to. They never replied to that offer.

All requests for canceling any service / services must be made in writing with at least 30 days notice but not more than 60 days prior written notice and faxed to (973) 572-1061. Confirmation Receipt of cancellation will be sent within 24 hours of our normal cancellation department hours of 9AM to 5PM EST Monday - Friday. An account is not cancelled until a confirmation is sent.
While i do agree that 30 days is quite lame, you did agree to it after all...

K, I admit that it is written in the faq on their site and i should have looked more closely, but they are making it impossible for me to cancel regardless.

If they charge me again this month, it will be because they refuse to honor my cancel requests and take at least a week to reply to all emails.

                    Their terms are pretty clear.

Setup fees are structured in such a way to filter short term / long term users.

I have a few boxes there, with no issues.

What was exactly your problem with the boxes ?
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not trying to say that their company is "bad", but this situation is just silly.

Their service was fine up until I started trying to cancel ...

I cancelled the boxes because I ended up cutting a much larger deal with a different host. That shouldn't have any affect on this situation though.

regardless of how the contract is setup , its pretty shady to make it hard for him to cancel , especially after he/she agreed to pay a termination fee.

Hopefully its just a miscommunication . Perhaps you were trying to close the account from an email not on their list so they are only doing it to protect you. ( it could be me trying to cancel your account right )

Thanks Jason, I will do that.

Once more I'll reiterate that I had nothing but good relations with you guys until the last 2-3 weeks or so... and I'm sure that dedicatednow and your parent company do good business for the most part or you wouldn't still be thriving. Anyway, your personal attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Do you have an ICQ# I can reach you on?
