    Fucking - NetworkSolutions - AVOID Searching For Domains There

    If you use Network Solutions Domain Search tool (which is rather nice)...

    STOP NOW.


    NetworkSolutions - LOCKS any domain that is searched on using their system.

    This Lock prevents you from registering the domain at any other registrar other than Network solutions at $35.00. (for up to 4 days according to 1 article)

      Yeah, it's totally fucked up, and other registrars seem to sell their search lists to cybersquatters who may register the domains you look for on the fly.

      Once happened to me with a mainstream project, once the .com was registered for it, plus some country specific ones, I went to grab the .net and .org, ....net was suddenly already taken. Fortunately, we had a trademark and got the domain back after 2 weeks without any major problems...but it's SCARY !

                              From the NetworkSolutions point of view.... they have Absolutely Nothing to lose..

                              We can say "We're never going to get a domain there again" - but... we were already saying that anyway. If they lock it up... they at least have a shot at you... and are depending on how worried you are someone else will just pay the 35 and get the domain.

                              On the other hand they try to sell hosting and an array of other assorted shit... and you can say "Fuck That Shit" to them on those services which they WILL lose if you hold a grudge about this.
