The Gallardo by most people's standards that are familiar with the car is the "poor man's" Lambo. I do not know a lot about them, only seen one for a few moments, there was one at my shop and my head sales told him that we were not in the market of getting parts for the car and had no interest in getting tools and such to work on it. The car was "nice" but you could tell it was engineered to be a lower level than the Diablo or Murcielago. We actually had a 13.4 second Civic in the shop that challanged him and he backed down after he saw that it was swapped and had a shiny TD04 in it that we had just put on and tuned. Smart guy, who wants to lose to a Honda, that would be lame.
There is a Top Gear Rally where Tiff drives it and pretty much rags on it for being a poor excuse for a Lambo, you can see if you can find that. Basically it has a smaller motor, more spartan interior (very bland), and the suspension is not tuned to be as crisp as the higher levels. Apparently those who can afford the "real" ones will look at you like those who drive BMW's look at people who drive 3 series.
I dunno what the diff is but I saw a murceilano the other day on the road and i thought it looked weird. I mean it looked huge maybe just cos most cars in england are small but to me it looked like an oversized hairdresser car! it was bright orange ffs!
for the money I think I'd rather have a top of the range 911 or maybe buy a few ricers and have a load of work done on them.
