I've currently got a site that provides some free hosted galleries for hardcore amateurs. The pictures are all hosted on my shared server and thumbnails are "generated" from the pictures by an automatic program that resizes dynamically given a size parameter. However, I've seen most sites make their thumbs as totally seperate images. I suppose using a dynamic thumbnail generator takes as much bandwith as showing the actual image?
My bandwidth is really eaten up in this case, and the funny thing is that I don't have THAT many uniques. Are there any methods to conserve it, or am I forced to do dedicated server for huge bandwidth soon?
Appreciate the tips!
