Right now I detect and redirect Chinese traffic.
I think what we need to see in adult are paysites offering prices for the Chinese that they can actually afford instead of just doing a USD conversion.
I'm not an expert on this issue, but I know that in USD terms they work for like $2 an hour and are able to live off of that. So to ask them to pay $30 USD a month for a site membership is something that seems like few can afford there.
Has this ever been discussed before?
Would it be better to have special pricing for the Chinese that is like $5 a month and then limit their bandwidth if necessary? Maybe have an alternative members area for them.Comment

We have some Chinese customers,not many but seems to me those can afford to pay the 30$. The problem there is not a pricing, is a restrictions and the way of billing.Comment

You guys make a big mistake...China has a small middle class that are willing
to buy porn and they can afford it too.....the middleclass being small doesn't
mean there's very few of them......a small percentage of over 1 billion people
is still a hell of a lot of people. Same goes for India and Russia, these economies
grow by more than 300% a year.......it's time to think about that and get
ready coz you're losing money if you don't......

The difficulty is to adapt our products to their liking and mindsets. Asian are
quite different than the rest of the world. Proper translation to their language
is a MUST, and also adapting the kind of content is key to success....I'm starting
to look into doing full versions to that market as just a quick chinese
conversion doesn't work that well as with some other markets.Comment

I'd not take Communist word at face value. China's GDP in real terms is overvalued by 40%, and Chinese population is undervalued by several hundred million.
Chinese government is notorious for making up statistics.

Some 137m people, about 10% of the overall population, are already online, and this figure is expected to grow rapidly in the next few years ? making it arguably the world?s most attractive market in the long term.
The sheer size and potential afforded by this vast market are simply too big to ignore. One study recently concluded that China is already the world?s largest consumer of (offline) porn.
When it comes to online, your entire business model will need to be adjusted to accommodate the unique characteristics of this market.
For starters, porn is technically illegal in China. The Chinese authorities do their best to censor the internet, a task which can never be realised due to its organic growth. To check if you have been blocked, go to www.greatfirewallofchina.org ? if so, Chinese surfers are taken to a decidedly unsexy page of the ?Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture?.
Despite a growing Internet-savvy middle class, online purchases in China have been slow to take off with traditional payment systems. Credit card-based payment systems that succeeded in North America and Europe have proven ineffective in China, where credit card usage remains low.
Furthermore, wages in China are low. A white collar Manager can expect to earn about $500 a month. Thus, selling a $29.90 monthly credit card subscription to him is futile on two counts : It is very unlikely he has one and even if he did, the subscription would represent an enormous proportion of his overall disposable income.
Clearly, cash is not suitable for web transactions. However, there is one payment device that practically all Chinese have access to ? the phone. Indeed, cellphone penetration in China is beginning to rival those of more developed markets.
Since the payouts available via such billing are less, you simply give them less time. After all, a monthly subscription usually equates to about a cost of about a dollar a day. So give them (say) 24 hours access if they pay you this way.
Another important consideration is that of language. Only about a quarter of Chinese learn English at high school, so it is imperative that you communicate with your new prospective clients in a language they understand ? theirs!
Your phone processor should be able to provide you with geo-ip tools that will enable you to easily accomplish this. If not, you should consider switching to one that does.
Then, and only then, can you start to make money ?made in China?

You are all naive and stupid. You don't understand how things work in Asia, even if something costs 1 penny to buy they still won't buy it as long as it can be downloaded and shared for free.
In Asian couturiers you are considered mentally weak and a sucker if you buy non tangible goods (dvds, software, porn). The few people that do buy instead of copy are very quite about it as it is a sign of weakness of character.

Gates cracked the Chinese issue and is able to sell windows there now and he actually has celebrity status. He first decided he would rather have his content pirated instead of people useing linux. Then it was figured that it was cheaper to pirate his instead of linux do to the number of disks. He has worked deals, lowered prices to what people are willing to pay and has near full market share. He has been able to litterally ween people off of pirating his software and paying for more applications of it.

I do not think it matters when Chinese surfers can not access the web without being censored. They are useless, besides they do not buy anything and are not within grasp of conducting business with.

Ya but the continent of Asia does not equal Chinese. Pakistan and China are two separate countries and are different in almost every aspect from culture to religion.
Also my answer to your question was more of a stab since the only time I have been in a store that had what appeared to be counterfeit and bootlegged material was owned and ran by some Pakistani family. I took a wild guess when on their video rental shelf was a few titles still in the theaters. It was out of town and we popped in because the sign outside mentioned blown glass. Discovered they recently had bought the store and what glass was left was very minimal. They just had stocked up on video rentals, assorted tourist crap, junk food, and a scary looking deli section. Purchased two bottled soda's and bolted.Comment

for those of you who said Chinese have no money, you guys have no idea what you are talking about. The middle class of China is growing very rapidly and so is their disposable income, they might not be buying porn and other things online but they buy, and can afford high end items like you wont believe.
Just spend a weekend in Hong Kong and see how the mainland tourists spend, they buy designer goods, lots of gold and electronics that are even too expensive for the Western travellers.
The sad part is that as the middle class is growing rich, the poorer class is growing that much more poorer.Comment
