I would agree with you there to an extent and if you've followed the history of the industry you've witnessed a few changes in "leadership". The other point is that the largest programs make so much money in 5 years that their owners often care less after that. Those companies have been very owner centric. A great mind or partnership behind the company. We don't have many great companies in this business; ones "built to last" once the owner leaves day-to-day operations. They often don't adapt because the driving force behind the company is no longer as involved.
But also, some of the companies that arose in the 2nd wave (say, 2000-2005) were and are huge.
