Assuming this isn't a joke , it's possible that changing the MAC address caused your ADSL (?) ISP to assign you a new IP address... but MACs certainly don't get passed halfway around the world...
Some isps assign static ips based on the router mac address... so if you change the mac address it'll think that you're a new customer and give you a new ip
