Basically, the dogs are not allowed in our home office anymore because my girlfriend keeps her shoes in that closet, and a few past experiences have shown that the dogs will eat her shoes. I promised that I would not let them run around in there.
This morning I was working from home and got really busy. I knew the dogs were running about the office, but didn't think about it. I trusted the little hounds would do me right, seeing I was showing confidence in them.
I turned around to this:

What should I do? The way I see it, I really only have a few options:
1) Tell her the truth.
In my opinion, this never works out. But I will leave it as an option.
2) Put the shoes back in the closet and when she finds them, just deny it.
3) Throw the shoes out and hope she doesn't notice it or thinks she lost them. She has more shoes than a bar has drinks, it is possible she will just think they are misplaced.

Then again, Ariel actually knows how to play fetch and will drop whatever she went to get. Ferdinand will grip it until you manage to rip it out of his mouth and if I throw something for Meg to fetch, she just gives that "You have GOT to be kidding!" look and rolls over for a belly rub.
