Surgery? No surgery. I should have gotten that while I was there though haha for that price. I had a bad upper resp infection/viral infection that kept me on a 103 fever for 3 days. Got some fluids and meds via I.V. and that's it. The hospital was so over-packed, I was in the ER for 2 days before I got into a room in the literal basement of the hospital that was years old and not maintained. They even told me this, because they were so packed they had to open the floor/wing up just for "overflow". The treatment while I was there was horrible to boot. I had no pressure on my I.V. so blood starting flowing out of my hand into the I.V. upwards. The damned nurse just told me to leave it be it would go back to normal soon, which it didn't. I had to tell the NURSE how to connect/disconnect my I.V. because she was pulling so hard at the tubes she put a nice kink in it. Un-fucking-real.Comment

A relative of mine was just in the hospital after nearly dying from a brain aneurism.
Total bill: $250,000.
Insurance covers it, though. Can't say enough about having medical insurance... you never know when shit will hit.

Knock on wood, she's doing better now, but strange pains and so forth remain all over her body. She had a week to live, the doctor had found it just in time after she had been complaining for about a year or MORE about terrible headaches and so forth.Comment

Ouch! Hope you're recovering well. My mom had about 4 spinal surgeries. One of which they fused computer chips to her spine, which later had to be removed due to sorts of malfunctions/issues. She went through holy hell, was in the hospital for 34 days. She's still in incredible pain daily.Comment

Sometimes the hospital billing will offer a % of the bill to be paid in full.
6 days in the hospital with my son ran 35k, we were expecting the normal 15k for the birth.
Time to keep up on health and fitness, to try to avoid the hospital bills, these days. Some people just eat crap and sit on there ass everyday and wait for another medical issue to pop up. Not saying that's your case, but I seen it all the time.

Im sure you can get something for less then $500. You can contact GHI i think they have the lowest insurance premiums. Trust me you never know when you will need it. Im a healthy 25 year old male that happened to have a snowboarding injury while I was in Austria two months ago. Next thing I know im in New York having a cervical spine fusion. The nice doctors in Austria gave me some pain killers and put me on a plane to New York. I understand totally. I owe over $50,000 and when I didn't have insurance it was less per hospital stay than when they I got insurance. If you have insurance the hospital charges more. If you don't have insurance then they charge less. Same with any other doctor. You can thank frivolous lawsuits for that shit.
So I tell them I don't have insurance, then when I get the bill I say I am so sorry I completely spaced it out I do have insurance here is the number and they can't up the bill then haha. It works every time! LOL Fuckers. They are part of what makes it so hard for small businesses to get better insurance plans for their employees, that and frivolous law suits, money hungry people.
Makes me sick, but I still am very against the government handling our health insurance. The DMV is so fucked up imagine what they would do to our hospitals. We would all be in rooms like you were in the basement with gross walls over crowed people there for no reason. No one get's turned away in America if you don't have insurance. I got 2 operations on my foot with no insurance. So these freak tin foil hat wearing fools who like to spread fear to people by saying America is the worse because we don't let the government cover our medical are clueless. I swear it makes the head on the back of my neck stand up, those tin foils head people hate the government but want the government to pay for everything in their lives. Idiots.
