SE Penalty for Gallery Post Date? (Seeking SEO Advice)

Hey all, quick question. On my TGP, I list the date of approval (Sunday, Monday, etc...) for the galleries. That means the density of the current day's name on my TGP is roughly 8 - 10%. My question is, will search engines penalize my site for having the days name appear too often on the page? Might it be seen as spamming or some sort of keyword stuffing?

Well I was checking the density of of my keywords with a tool that is supposed to omit stop words, but it still detected it and ranked 'Wednesday' as having 9% density. Do you still think se's would see it as a stop word?

Anyone else wanna throw in their 2 cents?

      Thanks SPeRMiNaToR,

What would be bad about getting the day into the SE? That in combination with other keywords will get some additional hits.

Yeah, but if the day's name is considered a keyword and it's density is too high (which I believe it is), won't the search engines penalize my site for it? So wouldn't it actually cost me hits in the long run?

            Thanks,

Yeah it hurts bad. Just look at all the blogs and their lack of SE traffic. ;)

8-10% is within the sweet spot.

i doubt it will matter. i mean you arent targeting the keyword "monday" are you? i do seo work on a site that uses the month in front of every gallery, which is even worse. i have some amazing spots with the site.

There was some discussion on BlackHat about this and it was widely agreed that the reports of date issues with Google were unfounded.

mikeyddddd: I heard it was lower than that...I guess that's why I'm not getting that much traffic. Thanks for helpin out.

chadglni: Hmm good point...but most blogs I've seen don't have the day's name in front of each of their galleries. Most of which I've seen also don't have as many galleries as my site + they have a lot more text. I'd think that would reduce the kw density...I may be completely wrong though. I don't look at many blogs.

beemk: No, I'm not targeting the date. I was just concerned since my site has such a rather small amount of text.

Thanks for all the help, fellas. Quite appreciated!

At worst, you'll be penalized for searches for specific dates, which I'm sure you can live with. Seriously though, it will affect your overall keyword density for other keywords, and in that regard it will probably help.

e.g. if your target keywords relate to "sex" and that word appears a lot on the page, then the appearance of all these dates will bring down the density of "sex" to a reasonable level.

Hope it makes sense, it's late for me here

Thanks for the input, kevsh. I'm still debating keeping it. I think I'll finally come to a conclusion if I can get a response to my next question...which is:

Does anyone know the appropriate keyword density range...as to not get penalized by the search engines? I've heard 2-4%, but mikeyddddd says 8-10%. Anyone got a link to an article or somethin?

                                Thanks,
