A Seattle-based company that rents out designer handbags via an online service has reeled in $8.25 million in Series B funding, an investment in what one investor calls the "retail subscription" hybrid of online marketing.

Using Bag Borrow or Steal's Web site, members can select a bag from a collection of more than 120 designers, gaining access to a library of bags that value into the thousands. Monthly subscription pricing is based on the expense and exclusivity of the designer, ranging from $19.95 a month for "Trendsetter" membership to $99.95 a month for "Diva" status.

BBoS have been paying for advertisements on my sites before. They do well, no doubt. But actually, many women are a little reserved when it comes to carrying around bags that have been used before. This site was started by the guy that used to run Classmates before they were bought by United Online and they said goodbye to him. I am surprised they got funding honestly since I heard how they were acquiring the bags and it wasnt very organized and there werent many designer ones at the time. Most of them were like Nine West and such.

It will be interesting to see if it works.

Basically.. when someone chose a bag to "borrow" they would send someone to the store to buy it. So of course they have to front all the money for the bags so they had no designer bags at the time.

With the funding however, things may change. I am wondering if they have insurance that covers the bags or something cuz some of those bags are over $2k a piece.

I've always thought a great business would be a puppy renting biz to guys so they can pick up chicks walking around the park with them.

If they do pick up the chick, then they pretty much have to buy the puppy. If they don't, we give it to the next guy. It's like a rent-to-own.

Well you would never catch our companies doing this. If rent-a-dildo is getting toys back in stock that were previously used, cleaning them and sending them back out - That is a huge NO NO and a potential huge liability..

Even returns are supposed to be destroyed if there is any chance at all that the item was ever opended or used.

We helped out a fellow GFYer with their ad campaign a few weeks back. Its a great idea...

However, I used them for a V-Day gift last month and it was about the worst experience with a company I have EVER had.

They simply put it are not ready for the public. The management is horrible, tech support is even worse.
