http://www.free-av.com) - I've tested it myself against a few others (Panda, Shitton (Norton), McHogallthefuckingresources-Affe, Avast, AVG etc.) and found it to detect the most viruses whilst using the fewest resources. Not to mention it's free and has free updates, rootkit detection, MBR protection - I could go on.
But if you don't want to use it, fair enough; just promise me you won't use "OOOOHHH! DID YOU REALLY WANT TO PRESS THE START BUTTON? COULD BE A FUCKING VIRUS OF DOOOOM!" piece of shit that is Norton.
