I now have a US cell. Do I need to include the '1' when texting Americans?

So I now have an ATT "pay-as-you-go" chip in my cellphone (#702 374 9448)

If I want to sent someone in USA a SMS, do I need to add a '1' in front of their number before sending, or just their cell #?

And do the yanks text anyways?

    Thanks in advance...

i think you can use numbers without '1'.

anyways i store all numbers in the international format in my cell, so i can use them wherever i am and from whatever cell provider..

      No need to dial 1.

Only need the "1" outside of the USA.

My US cell is on a plan and globally roams - use it all over the world.
