why are companies still sending out 1099s... a month past the required date? today i received one post marked 02-28-06 and have gotten 3 others dated after 2-20. i was under the impression the deadline was jan 31st. anyone else getting these?

Jan 31: last day to send out W-2's to employee's (& W-2 red-forms to IRS)
Feb 28: last day to send out 1099's (& 1099 red forms to IRS)

It is Jan 31st. I guess they don't care if they are late because no one is reporting them to the IRS. I think it's up to $100K fine for failure to send 1099s on time.Comment
