how many people read threads based on who posts them?

Generally no, I read the topic. But there is some merit to reading who posted if you enjoy their posts...as well as ignoring those that irritate you.

The topic is usually more important though, to me at least.

There are many threads I don't read based on who posts them. However, I read threads with interesting titles despite the poster with the excepetion previously mentioned. I've just learned that some people consistantly post garbage despite the title of their thread.

Of course! Or at least I note it. There are people who constantly cry wolf with their subjects and I get tired of opening "gotcha!" threads.

My hope would be that the people who matter rather than the surfers here,would be sensible enough to click a thread topic that is relevant to their business regardless of who posted it. I have posted threads here many times only to get 1 or 2 responses. But guess what, a number of those little read threads resulted in good business being achieved. Now that does deserve a
