Yeah I got that part. But live, is it hammer-ons and knock-offs or am I just wrong?

I have seen both ways live, but when he is showboating live he is doing hammer ons and pull offs. I find it really hard to do hammer ons and pull offs on that song and not hold the e and g strings because if I don't they resonate and it sounds like shit.
