although that point surely has some merit, i doubt thats true. the US has been one of the worlds most litigious nations on earth for the better part of a century. everyone here who is not a peasant or an ambulance chasing attorney understands the needs for Torte Reform. it has happened to a small extent but the problem always ends up being the same... everyone argues against making the guy who started the lawsuit liable for legal fees should he lose because of those rare circumstances where it all might be legit... and so on and so forth. its like arguing with environmentalists or PETA or something... since there is no perfect solution, we can't have any solution... and in the meantime, everyone suffers.. no matter how obvious it is that something needs to be done.
the legal system here is one of the biggest jokes of the free world. your rights are all perfectly protected until someone with more money than you decides to just use that system that protects rights and property to just bankrupt you because they have more money and can afford to.
