    SPAM ME on cheap unmanaged dedicated servers

    Time for me to spread some domains and bandwidth. I had to hold back some submits towards the end of this month. No doubt about it though, I need another dedicated server!!! I'm comfy with unmanaged, very familiar with Linux/FreeBSD. Celeron would work, prefer 256MB RAM, 20GB drive. Plesk control panel preferred, but Ensim is fine. Needs to have 1000GB BW per month. And YES, I'll use it!!!

    Current box is maxed out at....

    Usage as of today: 990.29 gigabytes
    Monthly limit: 1,000 gigabytes

    You won't be getting stupid noob questions from me, I just need another reliable box that I can patch and update on my own.

    So, what can YOU do for me????

                                                      I'm talking about UNMANAGED here folks!!! I don't need the hand-holding or baby-sitting, see the specs that I stated in post #1!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                      I do not need a super fast box on what I am asking here. I just need a reliable box to handle peak overflow, experimental development, and NO SPAMMING or bullshit type of email use!

                                                      For the prime hosting spot, this is the deal that will be in service starting in July 2005. This is a company I work for full time as a programmer. They have their own datacenter (NOT a reseller!!). They have 12 OC3 lines (155.52 Mbps) in, on 3 different providers. They will give me my own FULL locked rack, where I will be putting my OWN quad-Zeon Compaq Proliant 5500. that space at unmetered 100mbps EACH CHANNEL on TWO network cards is only $250 per month.

                                                      Damn, from some of the price tags I'm seeing in this thread I just called up my companies owner, and will be strongly pitching a "reseller" proposal on this next Wednesday.

                                                                                  I use LayeredTech for my server. It is 65$ + 19$ setup for a server that meets your spec. Also you really can't beat them on service. I think overages there are .30 per Gig. They also IP-KVM if you need keyboard and video access to the server for custom installs. 30$/day for rental of that equipment. Do a search on webhostingtalk for reviews of them.

                                                                                      Yea but if you use all that bandwidth then you are talking something like 1.06$ per Mbps. Thats cheaper than even cogent bandwidth. There is no way anyone could sustain a company with pricing like that. Your boss cut you a really good deal that nobody else is going to want to match since they will be selling at a loss.

                                                                                                  my bud has 3ghz p4, 512mb, 2x80gb hardware raid1, 50mbit he pays 530$ a month

                                                                                                  uses it for a lot of video content, like i said hasnt had a problem yet.

                                                                                                      I can do around $199 for premium bandwidth and around $99 for el-crappo bandwidth. You can use whatever control panel you want, this would be for root access only. Also we don't have anything lower then a p4, most are p4 HT's now since we give free hardware upgrades when new technology comes out.
