Jesus, the things I've seen people do with guns simply amazes me. It almost seems that a large population of gun owners traded their common sense in the purchase. Especially if you are planning on carrying a gun, should take the steps to properly educate yourself on the skills needed to use it without taking out half a city block while trying to defend yourself.

it's not that i disagree with you, i have met my fair share of idiots carrying guns as well, and i despise them. however, for me, the purity of that freedom means alot.
but one thing that i am sure of, is that those idiots would get guns either way. wether or not they had the legal permits.
i pride myself on being a very safe, responsible gun owner, and whenever i see someone behaving in a dangerous or stupid way with a gun, i make it a point to try to educate them on what they are doing wrong. unfortunately, most of the time it seems they are not doing it as a product of being uninformed on gun safety, but rather intentionally, because they are simply asswipes. so i am not neccesarily convinced that those kind of requirements prior to obtaining a ccw or the weapon itself would make all that much difference.
