A fake nick speaks up about GUBA, for those of you who are tired of the propaganda

I would love to have a real rep from Guba come in here and explain the full process of what they do in their "service" defending their stance that what they are doing isn't actually theft.

I've wandered through countless threads involving fake nicks and apparent Guba affiliates waving their dicks shouting "it ain't theft" without a shred of fact backing up why it isn't.

I stand by my original comment; Guba sucks rotting whale cocks.

they already have. they attempted to antagonize us with that "interface" bullshit, and insulted the intelligence of several of the people who i feel are the smartest on this board. they're stance as far as i can tell is this.

* newsgroups have been around for ever with stolen content, but its ok!
* we are an interface service, so its ok!
* blah blah blah blah blah!

Bottom line. They are making cash at the expense of people who actually paid to produce the content. That can't be argued.

i think they could have flown under the radar for a long time had they not bought the "biggest piece of advertising" that you can buy in adult.

this whole thing really shows that "content is king"

i've seen some traffic battles on here, but this one shows that if you don't protect your content, you might as well close up shop.

that's what mostly bothers me, the way they insult the intelligence of webmasters with all their bs. It would be more straight to come and say they make use of a legal loophole in an extensive way to profit from copyright infringements.

My advice since they are incorporated in CA is to keep a lower profile because a class action lawsuit is approaching. They consider adult industry operators as activeless that's why their bs platform focus on adult content and doesn't approach non-adult movie and music productions in such degree. Something tells me they'll be proved wrong.

Couple of years ago Titan Media sued and won an average of $1,500 PER IMAGE for each image that was taken and republished without permission. One site that paid was a website with just 6 images, another an individual selling images on a CD at eBay.

It all reminds me of an episode of Futurama, where a company called Kidnappster offered downloads of hostage celebrity heads.

The geek defending the company's business says, "The interenet is for the free exchange of other peoples ideas. We've done nothing wrong here."

They are correct in one sense. Usenet, Newsgroups, Alt.binaries.Anything_Here, has been around for ever. I can name you 10 companies right off the top of my head that do the exact same thing as them. Crawl the usnet, and filter the content for download by subsription, blah blah.

What the other companies with "interfaces" have not done however is try to go to bed with the industry. Takes pretty big balls to steal your t.v. and then bring it right back to your house to watch the big game with you.

I encourage other companies to look around and email the people that provide access to usenet content. They will gladly filter for you. Usenet can't be stopped, nor should it, but you can keep your stuff out of there if you really want to.
