What's the cost of very high bandwidth hosting?

Id suggest getting a dedicated rig for that kind of bandwidth. If you go virtual for the file hosting your bound to get suprise costs or your account terminated.

If you pay by the GB your looking at about a dollar per/GB minimum for high quality bndwith. I'd suggest looking at an Unmetered pipe if you can make use of it. It'll come in 1, 10, 20, 50, and 100mbps flavours and usually the company will allow you to upgrade your pipe as needed at no extra cost, so just pay for what you need to start.

I have one of my sites running at about 750-900kbps for movie transfer and thats just on a vps 300GB/month plan. Keep in mind that geographic location will have a large effect on the transfer rates that you recive.

just remember Unmetered are not unmetered like its unlimited. there are a max point of run on the line, just cant remember how much GB that are for a 100 line. but you can get x2...ect linies so you can get even more speed and run.

There is no typical price. Host "A" may be a self managed mediocre hardware / mediocre bandwidth providing reseller parked in a datacenter that is already oversold at twice their actual capacity and Host "B" may do absolutely everything for you while having an overhead of 10x what they are actually using. In this case, host A will be cheaper up front, but could quite possibly end up costing you more w/ losses than you thought you were saving by using them. That said, every host will offer you something different. Pricing, however, will not neccesarily be linear, ie: 100mbps may not cost 10 times more than 10mbps, because the more bandwidth you use, will typically find you spending less on every gig or mbps used, so 100mbps might actually be ony 8x more than 10mbps.

I doubt you'll find much posted with regards to this. Every host will do things differently and have their own secrets / bandwidth pricing / etc. Your best bet is to contact each host and see what they can do for you. You'll be amazed at price differences and abilities.

You could checkout wholesaleinternet.com. They would wheel and deal for this kind of traffic. They own their own data center (none of that "renting a rack in someone else's noc and calling their own" crap) and have massive pipes in there already. Their network latency is pretty good, was at about 90ms for me last I checked. Give James a call over there, he's the managing partner. PM me if you want his direct number.

10 mb/s ~ 3 TB uncapped bandwidth a month, if you rent an unmetered line.
Usually there's a linear difference, but also, the more bandwidth you push, the more powerful hardware you need too.
