yup fios... its pretty good connection... newgroups are still capped at about 300k... and downloading headers is pretty slow at about 10-30k... most webservers give me about 500k... and my max is at about 1700k... and the uploads at 200k is a big timesaver is you're uploading a lot...
ive had a couple problems with connectivity lately though... the connection will reset once in a while...Comment

I used to have commercial cable from Time Warner at my last place. Upload speed was 2 MB, 6 MB down. But then I moved, no such service avaliable out here. The fastest thing out here (other than frame relay or leased circuits) is ISDN, which is gonna be installed next week. Right now, I have dialup. My upload speed is about 1.3 K/sec. :-(Comment

There are a bunch of ISPs in Sweden that provide fiber to buildings and then sell access.Originally posted by bmbhow do ya get that?
Many local energy companies have built neutral networks that providers can sell services over.
DSL is still the main form of access for most people. But if you live in the right area you can get great access for not so much money.
100Mbps is $80/month for me. There's supposed to be a 300GB/month limit though, but that hasn't worked for quite a while.Comment

I have a T-1 in essence, but it's 2 768k XDATA (or frac T's) from TDS that are load shared through a router to get me up to T-1. A 768k XDATA is $79.95 x 2, + 2 static IP @ $5 each.Originally posted by BluMediaHow much are you guys paying for your T-1 lines?

If you get a regular priced T1 from SBC/TDS in this market. It runs anywhere from $400-600 depending on if it's a full/partical voice/data, and length of contract, etc.. Obviously full data is more expensive.
Using the two TDS XDATA 768k (frac T's) are much cheaper. But you get the same thing.
