dollar per gig, any good?

I tried to get an account with that guy... sent email after email.... tried calling a bunch of times... I've gotten more response out of dead people.
Don't know how the service is because of the afore mentioned trials and tribulations... so good luck. If it's that hard to get an account, complete with begging and all... I can only imagine what tech support is like.

Doesn't matter on-top, his website is a joke.... you have to email or call the guy to get an account, and he never answers either one. I've been waiting for 2 months to hear back from him.

Unless you push a *LARGE* amount of bandwidth it is close to impossible to make a profitable business at $1/GB, especially if you give any support/time towards your clients.

I'm just putting a server up (little plug informative page; www.nysus.com ) and offering $1.75/GB. Am offering this because I'll use the server for my own projects and so I'll be doing administration of the server anyways so only extra cost is time towards setting up people, and making sure people are happy. Wow, that's a long sentence. English never was my forte.

LoL AYH, I'll take your word for it.

Nysus, your are correct that it makes better sense right now when the big guys are getting great deals. But I've seen some middle line players grabbing up some sweet deals lately...real deals balancing on very low, average pricing. So good luck on your new server, but competition is getting hot :-)

I have an account there call and talk to someone thats the only way to get ahold of them most of the time. But for $1 a gig my site there loads decent but i hate cobalt boxes tho and all their servers from what i heard are cobalt boxes

Overall its good hosting for tgp postings which is what i use it for i havent tried running any scripts pver there.

I really really want to to like these guys. I emailed, they responded right away and then I sent them the details to get my account set up. Then the waiting started.

I would email, I would ICQ to ask when my accout would be set up. Two weeks latter I was told all was set up. It wasn't. The domain wasn't set up properly by them and it couldn't be accessed. It then took another two weeks for someone to finally take a look at it and fix it within 2 minutes.

In the space in between I emailed and icqed again and if I got answered at all I was told 'I'll just go check' and then they never got back to me.

So, I finally sent an email pointing out my frustration and got back what is simply the rudest email I have ever had from any customer service anywhere. Luckily shortly before I was about to just totally lose it I got an icq reply from the head guy and he helped me this time and appolagized.

However, I still do not have a working password and username for the stats. The pages load fast but there is no way I am going to start sending traffic when I can't check my stats to see how much bandwith I am burning. The password they gave me doesn't work. Still no response to emails or messages about this. The times I have tried to call I get an answering machine. Granted I am in the UK so our time zones clash. I want to give this a go for some of my galleries but until someone gets me into my stats I won't.

So, almost two month and I don't have a fully working account.

Competition is indeed there, although this is not and will never be my full nor main source of income. This is mostly to make a bit extra while having the server up for my own use. I think things will work out, I just need to make back the school money I spent on the server within a year, which will hopefully happen.
