why don't you just buy a removable plate for a tripod and use that?

Thanks thats exactly what i needed, I am sure I can find it at a hardware store now that I have the dimensions.

Thats also a good idea. I was actually in the market for a nice tripod and plate, what is the dimension of the screw that goes into the plate? I noticed it's a bit bigger than the one going into the camera.

So would the one going into the camera be 1/4" and the one going into the tripod plate 3/8"?
