Traffic Cash Gold Business Thread - Not Drama

Maybe it's just me, but I swear their members areas remove content as it gets older, and then a few months later it shows up as an "update" again. Witness the lastest update in Casting Couch Teens.

I suppose with the average retention of surfers being as low as it is, content that _they_ haven't already seen as a member *is* new to them.

How effective do you think this method might be? It certainly cuts down costs on long term updating of sites. Thoughts?

I dont think it's a horrible idea...kind of like "refreshing" their memories of past content.

One down side might be that galleries in archives etc that are more than several months old might actually send a surfer to a site where the member's area doesn't contain the content they got "hooked" with from the gallery. How big a part that might play in retention I don't really know.

it's smart business as long as there is a long time between the rotations

i remember NBC's summer line for watching tv

"If you havent seen it, its new to you"

so weekly updates, we are talking about every 9-12 months rotation? as long as its not those single girl sites i doubt many new surfers will notice (unless theyve seen older galleries and they can make the link)

            my two cents
            Someone finds you...

If you retain members for 3 months, and your content cycles YEARLY, that isn't such a bad thing...

the downside is the quality of older content (image quality, encoding) and that the models hairstyles or look might go out of fashion over time. You could probably recycle content at least once without too much of an issue, especially if every other update was fresh and new.

This is also another reason why it is good to keep moving on to new sites to promote rather than hanging on to older sites...

With surfers who may have joined paysites prior, they are probably thrilled to see updates period. Since there are so many shit cookie cutter garbage sites out there that don't update at all.

Nothing beats exclusive content, handpicked models, and a little tlc from a programs owners though. There are SOME.. but not that many.

With a 4 month rotation you could probably run the same updates for every member...member 2 sees the same shit his 4th week as member 3543. Its always fresh per member, so its all good i would think.

TCG pays per sign up anyways, does it matter if they retain your sales?

For the record i know nothing about paysite management, i just send them sales.

Some shit goes out of style in an hour... plus the advances in cameras and encoding means that images shot 2 years ago on the highest quality digital cameras of the time now look like home movies.

                        Shit moves fast.

I don't watch much porn and I can pick up on old content verses new content. The girls, what they're wearing, the quality of the content verses other content in said paysite, etc. I've heard of several sites doing content rotation, I'm sure it works for some and doesn't for others. The quality of content usually improves as time goes on, it would be strange to show lessor quality content as "new".

I dont doubt quality issues, I was referring to haircuts, i'd say many girls have same haircut now as 2 years ago, at least i wouldnt notice that a 2-years old haircut is now "out of style"

Haircuts was an EXAMPLE. No need to nitpick.

Rotating content it's called. Don't pay much attention to TCG but they are not the only ones doing it. As long as they are PPS doesn't matter that much to me

this is an option with some off the shelf CMS programs so it's probably done on many sites... I think there is even an option in one of them to rotate through on different galleries unique for each member, so someone who joins a site now would see something different than a person who joins two weeks later, but they'd both start off with the same 'update' upon joining. So only as much content needs to be used as to accomodate the longest retaining active subscriber.

I don't know if this is what they are doing, but if it is, its not such a bad thing. Especially if the turnover of members isn't too long, then why not? As a member ages, keep rotating the content. Keeps costs down and most members satisfied. I don't imagine this is the only company doing it too if they are. Besides, they're paying on a PPS basis so once a member is handed to them, its up to them to milk them dry...
