This is a myth. When was the last time a presidential candidate really campaigned in Alaska or Hawaii? They don't. Why? Because Alaska is always going to vote Republican and Hawaii will vote Democrat. Same thing goes for states like North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho and others. They will always vote republican. Minnesota and Massachusetts and DC will always vote Democrat. So candidates don't go to these states. Where do candidates go to? California, Florida, Ohio.
