I tried playing with multiple columns, but it did not look as good
What is everybody's thoughts on this?

I liked the old colors.

Two columns should be enough if you can manage it but it all depends on if you're going with both category listing & the descriptions. If you use both then one column is easier to read. If you go with just the category or description listing then two or more columns. Of course, if you go with the description listing, having more than one column would cut down on how long the description can be.
