    Starting new company, need advice

need some advice, because I'm new to this industry - but not to business in general, nor to programming and development

    First, some background:
my business partner and I run a small dedicated host for a few websites that we own. We're sufficiently proficient in setting up servers on the hardware and software level.
A friend of my business partner has steadily been building up adult content. He's been looking for a way to start distributing it online.

    The questions..
We have the server equipment and the knowledge to setup the server, but this will be the first time we run a transaction-based site - so,
    - how should we process the payments?

The guy who's getting us the content needs to register the company and have everyone sign the release forms.
    - Is an LLC his best bet?

*I've read some threads here that say that for the first year, you have to spend $800 to accept VISA. is that our only choice? what about other cc merchants like paypal?

sounds good. should we register through online sites or give in the paperwork ourselves?

First..congrats....and second, online payment processing is a big part of the overall business and this will need some good focus. I wish I could help you on this one but cannot. However, on the business side of things, my best advice is to make sure you have an actual business plan in place or at least a focused game-plan on what you want to offer, pricing, marketing, financials and cash-flows, and most importantly -- contingency plans so that when something goes wrong (and trust me, there's murphys law), you already know how to solve it. Also plan an exist plan as well.

I also agree....being an LLC is one smart business decision already

they hate adult ANYTHING and they will terminate your account immediately.

ccbill, ibill, paycom, i think nexus is another?

i know ccbill is the most popular, but i don't know if that makes it the best. i do know they charge a lot for visa processing though.
