One thing to think about when talking about the women who are hookers in Thailand....If you notice, MOST of them come from the outskirts of the country. They leave their families and homes in search of work. Many of them could not get "real" jobs b/c of their lack of education but living in a small rural town doesn't pay enough to feed the family. As a result, many leave in search of a way to feed their families only to find prostitution.

Think about how much $$$ they make from a tourist in USD. Convert that at 35-1..it's enough to feed the family for months. Many of these girls don't have much of a choice and it's very sad. Others, leave their children with their parents and go to China or other places to work in factories for $40 USD per month. Once again 35-1, feeds the family.

Life is about choices but in a country where desperation, poverty, HIV, drugs, and prostitution is prominent, many choose the "seemingly easy way". Many also do it in hopes of meeting "that guy" who will marry them or take care of them one day.(which tends to happen a lot)

I was saddened when I first went home to visit. The thousands of beautiful women, who are most times forced into that life, as a result of having to carry the burden of taking care of their families.
I just rubbed one out to this post
