Yea but any good club doesnt have girls saying "ohh i like that song and start dancing." in nyc everyone was into the music, even the girls. The opening DJ would play the foofy stuff and the main dj like danny tenaglia, sasha, carl cox would just go off.. he didnt play to the pussy, he played what was in his heart. and you know what? the hoes still stayed on the floor. Anyone can go in and mix a cher record and a deborah cox record back to back like a cd. Im my opionion its the guys who can have 3 tables going with records that dont stand alone by themselves but combined with all 3 mixes its enchanting. Thats skill.

whatever the club calls for is what you book your djs for. mainstream, heavy tourism, heavy college campus influenced dancefloors won't have it or appreciate it. i've seen it in san diego especially. they don't undertand what we do. my house is stacked with exactly what you are describing, i do however have plenty of stuff that you can play for sheep to make that bank. in san diego, which has very little underground vibe, you're forced to cater as much as possible to sheep and mtv brainwashed youth. you can't force stuff on people that don't wanna hear it. NYC is a far cry from some of the places i've had to play. NYC is dj paradise. not anyone can go in and mix two records together. i've let some people try it that think it is so easy. they are quickly humbled. you can teach any monkey to beat match, but the skill and art is in programming and knowing what goes together and what doesn't.

yeah you guys have a great club scene up there. our clubs in cali sucks. liquor stops at 120am. young people have fake ids at 17 or 18. most clubs in san diego close at 145 and everyone needs to out of the building by 2am sharp. one club in SD is open until 4am. i used to play the 1am-4am time slot and i'd sneak in the back to do shots with the bartenders.

                                        damn 98-2000.

i was guesting at tunnel, twilo, soundfactory, speeed, kit kat club.
man.. it does seem like lightyears away.
NYC is deff not the same.
it was deff all about the progressive beats.

now.. living in SF it's house music all night long baby. lol
i'm sure i have a few crates and promo stuff from those years.
