I doubt it would take off if you drove it too fast on the highway LOL. It gets 300 mpg because it as an electric car with a gasoline generator. So the gas engine only comes on when the battery gets depleted. That way you can plug it in and never use gas if you dont want to, but if you need to get the range the generator kicks in.
I bet the range is ridiculous on that thing though. With one 10 gallon tank at 300mpg you could probably drive across the country!!
