Colour Psychology? The effect of colour on gallery CTRs (Warning! Business thread!)

I know a friend of mines father was launching a software product that was going to sell on retail shelves. They said that yellow was the best color choice for their packaging. Makes sense based on your test.

I don't think 2000 uniques is enough to be representative, since there are many possible factors playing a role which would need to be evened out.

I have a retail background - the reason for this is that yellow stands out far better than any other colour. I didn't expect it to do so well on a gallery when there were no other competing colours.

A larger sample would b ideal but you can get a decent idea from it. Will you keep testing and lets us know?

Nice! But color is just one variable. The biggest is probably the content selection and call to action and setup text. Good step towards comprehensive data and a modular approach to gallery CTR data analysis though.

It's 20,000, but I agree - it needs more uniques, so I'll keep the galleries up for a while and see what happens.

I am surprised at the order of the bottom four. I would have thought the order would be blue, black, green, orange.

The colors can be a factor with such as certain bg color, certain logo colors, certain color matching and combinations... Lots of info on color theory out there..

CONTENT is what makes or breaks.

Niche? Some more popular than others.
But I suppose that has nothing to do with CTR?

He said galleries where the same except for the backgrounds.
To me that means same text, same sponsor, same content.
Only part I am not sure of is the color of the text itself since the background changes too.

What TGP was crazy enough to accept the same content on different Galleries?

If thats the case I apologise stupid me not reading.

Why didnt he try Pink

?

I have found that Color combos bring forward interesting results as well.
But thats from a tour perspective.

Worse colors for tours are Blue's and Greens.

Did you read the thread title or first post? This was about the effect of COLOUR, not content or niche or text or anything else.

The weirdest is Oranges and Yellows.

Both are very similer in Harmonic Identification to the brain.

One is at the top of the list other at the bottom, which makes no sense at all and leads me to disbelieve whats shown or some sort of error.

For me the best colors are the ones that mirror and/or are exactly the same as the colors on the tour I'm sending too.

You forgot one thing...every color isnt going to convert the same

yellow may have a good CTR, but if the paysite color is totally different, it will affect the ratios.

If any of you guys have any experience in direct marketing, you'll know that testing every little thing is important. You do small tests and whatever works best is what gets the bulk of the "traffic."

Great start to data mining though

Try to mix it up with some content aswell and see how close the results are

I checked out your gallerys and the content thumbs are pretty hard to see with the pure white background
