so its not like you "get it" at all. further you go on to explain like any addict does "well.... the legal limit isn't really drunk for ME... its just "drunk" according to the law" etc etc etc. to further rationalize your insanely irresponsible choice that put everyone around you at risk of being killed.
the bottom line is that people get killed because of people EXACTLY like you. people that have it all figured out. people that are just incredibly brilliant and "know their own limits". people that "are ok to drive".
i couldn't care less if someone wants to drink, drive and juggle chainsaws all at the same time if they are in the middle of the desert somewhere.
just like every other person killed by a drunk driver, my mother was killed by someone who "knew his limits", "knew he was ok to drive" and knew that the "legal limit isn't really "drunk" for him" because he was a fucking genius too... his truck hit my mom head on, at 60mph, at night, with his headlights off... driving in the wrong lane into oncoming traffic.
and... if i was like some of the fucking idiots in this thread i would have been saying to him over the years "wow... you're lucky, this is third time you have killed people in drunk driving accidents and only got sentenced to 5 years and served 2! be careful next time... we don't want to lose you"

Dood...First, I am very sorry about what happened to your Mother. I've lost friends to drunk drivers myself. It fucking sucks.
Second, I am the mosy pro-cab / anti-drunk-driving guy on this board. Ask anyone who goes out with me on a regular basis. I didn't even plan drinking as much as I did. Was I impared legally? Sure. Was I really that fucked up? No. I could pass the dozen or so field sobriety test the guy gave me, so I couldn't have been that bad. If they had breathalized me, I'm sure I would have been so ridiculous number, considering I hadn't really eaten much either. That's why I say I fear the legality more. I was nowhere near driving up the wrong lane. In fact, the cops didn't even say I was drving irradicly. The bars were just getting out, so I was an easy mark.
Third, it's something I will never do again and I never really did anyway. This thread is more of a warning to those who do drive drunk to maybe think about it before they do. I've fucked up a lot in my past and a DUI would have been the end of me. I got lucky: Very, very lucky.
Are things clearer now?
I hope this makes things clearer.
