Flowers are always nice... kinda useless thought... she won't think about you 2-3 days after... since they'll be in the garbage.
Buy her jewelery and every time she'll wear it she'll have you in her mind.

I know I am going to take some heat from the ladies here, but I am protecting my friend.
If you set a precedent this early with flowers you are asking for her mind to start expecting these types of things. Long term, if you really like this girl, and she is not just a bone, then this is a bad idea. This early keep things simple. Do something different show your creative side. Gifts and especially flowers should be saved for later. Just giving you my 2cents good buddy
For a 4th date that falls on Valentine's Day, flowers are cool.
Just don't go overboard and get her some large ass arrangement that will seem like you are a fatal attraction case.
Something nice and elegant, which lets her know you are smart enough to know you need to get her something, and also smart enough to realize that on the 4th date you shouldn't get too much.
Edit:~nods in agreement with Sammy~ A bunch of cut spring-like flowers will do just fine.

2-4 flowers with some greenery and babys breath thrown in would be lovely and very thoughtful. I don't know much about chocolate, but maybe a single bar of some of kind of fancy chocolate to go with them.

One more reason not to be just like every other guy out there going on an early date with a girl. Do something more unexpected. Flowers and chocolates are overrated. You can do better. Plus make it something that she will not fall into the rut of expecting you to give her on a frequent basis.

it's Valentines day.. it's a flowers and candy sort of day, but heed the advice about buying a sweet bunch of flowers instead of a hearse full. It's about making her feel special rather than showing you have a ton of money.
Then, if sex is on the menu, get some decadently expensive chocolates for after. Just get a few and then when the hungries hit, feed one to her.
if she hasn't got a gift for you.. eat the chocolates yourself.
Flowers is OK, but I rather go for sleazydreams idea, something unusal, women always expects flowers........
I like his sledding idea too.
However, the fact remains that women are women. If he is going to be taking the lady in question on a 4th date, he obviously likes spending time with her thus far.
I think a *small* token that acknowledges Valentine's Day will be seen as a good thing in her eyes.

What's wrong with giving gifts during a relationship? I don't see anything wrong with buying each other things that show your love for that person. It's not about how much or little you spend or what it is, it's the effort and symbol.
I know personally, it's the gesture and not the gift that means a LOT to me. Doesn't everyone want to be remembered on a special day or any day for that matter?
Note: People in relationships just for sex and/or money and gifts do not apply to the above statement. ^^^^

hey, i say give her bass strings - that's what i'd want ;)
when i first started seeing my fiance, i used to bring his cat cat treats or bring him a book on programming (he's into computers). they weren't gifts that said serious (it was way too early) and they were fun to give.
on the other hand, a few flowers on valentine's day seems traditional. or get good quality silk flowers and they'll last.
Roses are great (since it is Valentines)... make it 6 long stem, not red but look for some in a striking colour or make all six different colours (in which case 1 red is ok)... contrary to popular opinion not all women will start expecting flowers or gifts on a regular basis. Quality time spent showing a genuine interest in the other person is the best way to grow a relationship. The sleding date sounds like fun and a good way to find out if she shares your interests. Above all else be yourself and have fun.
It's not to early Scott. Some guys will even bring flowers to a first date. I believe that my bf brought me a white rose on our second date or so, it was rather sweet. If you like her you can get upto a half dozen roses (although personally I enjoy the single rose myself)...however, there are nice arrangements out there that you can get that do not involve roses. I too say stay away from the red, colours are nice. I also would like to think that most women are not going to expect flowers from you all the time...you seem to be the type of person that wants to do nice things for your lady anyway...don't be discouraged and do what makes you feel good.
4th date is valentines day - thinking of getting her some flowers for it.
is that too soon for flowers?
thoughts?
dude, from the threads you make here it looks like you need some old fashioned man2man advice from someone that actually understands how women work.
Save your cash, take her somewhere that cost you nothing (park? skating? dancing?) - stop asking gfy for advice and come to me when you are sick of dumping thousands of $$$ on girls that don't truely deserve someone as thoughtful as you.
Remember guys - only superficial shallow bitches expect flowers on valentines day. Are you dating one?
Sledding sounds like a great date. My hubby is taking me snowboarding for our V-day. If you feel the need to give her a gift for v-day, why not pick up a single rose and suprise her with it at the right opportunity.
Depends how hot she is...if she is an 8/9/10 don't buy her anything, infact act as if you don't give a shit. The first 4 dates is at a critical time if you are not yet intermate with her. If she is more asthetically challenged buy her the damn flowers...not like she has other guys lined up to do it.
