To anyone that's using keyword lists as a determination of overall popularity you must also consider that there are some universal terms and combination of terms that will always yeild a positive result for adult content. "boobs" for example would rarely be used in the context of someone being a "boob." It usually refers to breasts and not a buffoon.

So with a finite glossary of terms for adult natured searches you must conceed that people will generally be searching for the same thing. So even if a small percentage of the population searches for adult natured products the relative popularity of those terms will be higher than other searches.

For most people Google has replaced the Yellow Pages. Ever noticed how many Yellow Book commercials you see on TV? The phone book used to be the only directory people referred to. I can't tell you the last time that I opened a phone book. I frankly hate to see them come to my house, it's a sad waste of paper.

There will always be a higher volume of random searches not related to porn. Just think about people who are car shopping, they may do 100 different searches for car info to find their answers.

I would LOVE to have a list of the search phrases Google considers 'porn'.

i personally do not use google to "search" for porn either,

alot of my friends that are regular every day surfers just use tgp networks/trade links for porn and not search engines.
Holy cow you might actually have a brain.

Another reason why non-porn could be high is that people use it as a spell checker. If there's a word I'm not exactly sure how it's spelled, I Google it and it will tell me if I'm wrong or not. I know quite a few more who do the same thing.

agree.... though numerous, porn sites do not consist the bulk of google's searches. there is a wide-array of topics in google. thus, the possibility that one surfer search for a porn site is very slim.
