10% makes perfect sense if a % of all searches. You can only play with your cock for so long before it gets sore. The rest of the time you'll be looking for mainstream stuff.

Besides - once a porn surfer has a decent raft of bookmarks including TGP's and link lists how often will he use Google for porn searches? After a while I'd put money on the average porn surfers usage of google for porn searching to fall well below 10%.

Or maybe they are lazy like me? I have google toolbar and if I ever want to go to yahoo I usually skip the www crap and type yahoo in the toolbar. Then some browsers let you type yahoo or whatever directly in the address bar but loads the site for you and still counts as a search. Google had this working for quite awhile.

I can believe that, i mean there are a million keywords and phrases that you can search, porn is a huge part of the internet but with all other things combined that kind of percentage makes sense.

i personally do not use google to "search" for porn either,

alot of my friends that are regular every day surfers just use tgp networks/trade links for porn and not search engines.

Come on, be realistic here. For every person who searches porn, they also probably have searched 100 other terms for non porn stuff.

It's extremely likely that porn is a small single digital percent. There are way more non-porn keywords than porn keywords.

Coming from an SEO background that makes perfect sense.

First you must consider that the Internet is used all day long by all sorts of people. For the average American, porn is not acceptable to be surfed at work unless your job is related to adult entertainment.

With the average American working a 40 hour week or more, this restricts their porn surfing to non-work hours.

I'd comfortably agree that porn is a single digit percentage of Google's search queries.

You are probably correct, it just doesn't sound right when you think of Joe or Josephine Surfer only looking at porn < 10% of their time.

I read somewhere that around half of the search terms used daily have never been used before. It would be interesting to see what percentage Wordtracker top 100 or top 1000 is of the total searches done daily.
