There is something called coincidence, and the fact that multiple doomsday predictions just happen to land in the latter half of 2012 is likely one giant fucking coincidence. Nothing is going to happen in 2012 that didn't basically happen now in 2007, or y2k, or 1984, etc etc. It's just a bunch of paranoid garbage. The fact that the only person I've ever spoke to who honestly believes in the shit lives as a hermit in the backcountry, and believes he's a reincarnated hopi indian shaman, who studies an eclectic combination of hopi tradition/christianity/hindu/buddhism (ya, seriously, wtf?) doesn't exactly lend any credibility to the whole thing.
I'm a pretty open person, I'm open to a lot of possibilities. But to put much faith into the 2012 prophecy is pretty ridiculous. I'd go out on a limb and bet I've read more on this topic than you have. The last time one of these "polar shifts" was supposed to have taken place was around the time of the building of the sphinx and the great pyramids. Do we have any historical evidence that anything took place the was of any significant took place to alter the course of mankind at this time? Not particularly...
