Sony Vegas Editors, have a question for you.

I have a project inside Sony Vegas that I need to output for editing into Final Cut Pro. I do not want to compress the file at all, just want to output to a file that Final Cut can edit with.

I have tried .mov and .avi with no luck. I am certified in FInal Cut and dont want to have to learn Sony Vegas to edit. Any ideas?

What do you mean no luck? Vegas won't render in those formats for you or final cut won't open them?

You could also try opening the .veg file in final cut, that might work the way you can open a psd in fireworks or png in photoshop. (Just a guess, I've never used final cut)

I've never figured out a way to move from one editing software to another.

I don't get it tho, you want to whole project in vegas that has fades, transitions etc and have them imported into FCP?

If you want what you have now without compression, just render an uncompressed avi.

Guess I should clear this up a bit more. I am running Sony Vegas, via Parallels, on a MAC. The footage is in a format that Vegas will recognize but Final Cut will not ( I think it is some sort of .avi variety). It is just raw footage. I would like to export all of the raw footage out of Vegas and into a format that I can then edit in Final Cut, along with some other footage that I have already worked on.

I know the golden rule is "edit on the system you capture" with but this is not possible on this project.

Tony, thanks for the link. That site is always full of info, but the last place i go to because it lacks quite a bit in "user friendliness". Will look around there for a clue.

They have always been very friendly and helpful in the vegas area.
