has anyone calculated their average CONVERSION RATIOS through the years...

    and can share some data?

I know someone will immediately reply "ratios dont mean shit, its the $$$$ that counts" and i partially agree with it, but regarlesss of that , ratios can still be discussed and compared

i know that ratios depend on how they are counted, on the site promoted, on its saturation and most importantly on the traffic source, but I can imagine there are still some people who could say "in 2000 I averaged 1:250, in 2004 1:500 and in 2006 - 1:700" ( just an example )

    so anyone?
    I don't use ICQ anymore.

i am talking about guys who have been around longer than me, have more traffic and also pay attention to such things

for me it would be kinda worthless to compare f.e conversions of tgp traffic from 2003 sent to ARS with PPC SE sent now to Nasty Dollars

well some ppl track hits sent by their own...

or they use the same sponsor all the time and the sponsor may not change the way they track hits so then its easy to compare ratios

Honestly, it varies a lot for me.

Before I submitted a lot of galleries, the sites varied but it was something like 1:500 for one site (no longer online becasue of 2257 b.s. so I pulled it back when there was all the hub-bub). When I do not promote them (FHG) the ratios are something like 1:1000 I would guess (All sites are some theme of foot fetish). I have one site not foot fetish that's new, and I have not gotten around to promoting, but it's a micro niche I guess. It's converting at 1:300 in roll over traffic from the other sites in network. No TGP/FHG's promoting it. Just banner, or links on other sites.

When I do a ton of TGP submissions, and traffic goes through the roof, it's a bit higher. You get all the freeloaders rolling through. So the ratio's sqewd. You get more conversions, but traffic's off da hook.

Ratios DO mean something. It's all about conversions in this business. Alexa rankings, PR, traffic, all that jazz is nice, and needed. But.. conversions are what pay da bills. Followed by retention.

I don't have any hard numbers to show, but few years ago 1 in 100 or better was common, 1 in 200+ was considered a bad week, now a days with similar traffic it's common to get 1 in 300+...

I'm terrible that way. All I keep track of is income and expenses...and long as the net keeps getting bigger I'm happy.

I'd say the conversions stayed pretty much the same.

(But it does depend on traffic sources of course.)
