there is another factor to consider here with aging: as I age my perceptions change. I become more sensitive on several levels. one of these levels is spiritual, and in a few other areas as well. so to assume that the the elder open more in a 'spiritual' direction due to fear is a misconception that is cause by your 'youth' I hope that you live long enough to experience this awakening.
