Break into the shop at night, break the Santa, steal some stuff, then call the police... Say that you live upstairs and were awoken by vandals breaking into the shop... You managed to chase them away before they did too much damage...

Shop keeper gives you a reward, you become a local have a go hero, you get some early Xmas pressies for yourself, and no more Santa...

I do remember that the 6th Jan is the true xmas - 25th Decemeber was chosen for commercial reasons.
